Two Day Stone Carving Workshop
September 25th, 2010 to September 26th, 2010

Come experience the ancient craft of stone carving with a mallet and chisel. Adam Heller is a master letter carver with over ten years of experience in stone carving. He will guide the class in a hands-on exploration of the techniques involved in hand carving “V-cut letters.” This class is open to all levels, from beginners to experienced carvers.

* Tools, stone, and a delicious homemade lunch will be provided each day.
* Cost for the two-day class is $325.00.

Adam Heller: After graduating from the University of Vermont in 1996 with a B.A. in Studio Art, Adam began stone carving in 1997 while studying with Sister Praxedes Baxter at the Abbey of Regina Laudis in Bethlehem, CT. His professional lettering career began with an apprenticeship at the John Steven’s Shop in Newport RI (1998-2001) where the tradition of hand carving stone has continued since the shop’s founding in 1705. Stone Carving Class: "Leaf in Relief"

Come out for a day of stone carving with Tracy Mahaffey

This is a one day class for anyone who ever wanted to try their hand at stone carving. We will focus on the carving of a leaf in slate.

Cost for the class is $70. (plus a $10. material fee that includes all stone, use of mallet+chisel for the day, and a plethora of leaves to choose from.)
